MOVEMENT COACH

Twenty years of learning, training, practicing, reading, sharing, talking about, keeping in, throwing out… the methodology I use to teach body movement is a combination of all the things I have learnt and experienced over the years.  You can read more under each of the section about the various types of movement you might expect in a session when working with me, it is very rarely one of them on it’s own.  I am a firm believer in “if there is a will, there is a way” even if it doesn’t quite look like what you think it is meant to look like.

Personal Trainer

This is where it all started.  Many moons ago in Dublin I studied for my first qualification in exercise and health.  I took an interest in refining and getting the most out of movement right from the get go. I am a problem solver by nature and have based my work around getting movement right to make for a safe and effective training experience.  Gym based, online sessions, mat, machines, dumbells, bands, bars, landmines, kettlebells, blocks, belts and more! It’s amazing how creative and constructive a session can be when you know how to move!

Yoga

My love of yoga started by attending a class in Colorado well over twenty years ago.  I have practiced in many disciplines, anything I could get to and I have trained in a the ones I loved the most and wanted to share with others!  My yoga teaching consists of constructive movements, working your way towards a pose, includes structural seting up, therapeutic movements that range from extremely soothing and relaxing to powerful poses.  I teach yoga looking for and teaching alignment and purpose, and with that comes that elusive “lightness” referred to in yoga!  It’s not a sweaty, beasting but that does not mean to say it’s always gentle.  I am trained to teach hatha (Yogacampus), adaptive (Matthew Sanford), yin (Sarah Powers), restorative (Adelene Cheong), meditation and breathing (Traditional Yoga).

Pilates

I am very proudly PRI Pilates trained. This method, I believe, is the glue that brings my work together.  It is a concept involving positioning and aligning the body in a way that enables the breath, the muscles, the joints, your whole body to work optimally, efficiently and safely.  If we get this right, you can do anything!

Massage Theapist

I have always believed and confirmed through my work over the years that soft tissue treatments really are important all the way from relaxation to realigning to mobilisation of fluid and lymph. They are all key, however the last is a game changer.  If we humans are 70% fluid, we are almost fancy ponds! The stagnation of fluid/lymph hurts, really hurts. Soft tissue work gives me the opportunity to mobilise, iron out, get fluid flowing and assess what is happening through the musculatory system as well as around the joints.  Top tips for your movement often come from soft tissue treatments (#homework).
